Dunphy's Irish Whiskey

Dunphy's is a blended Irish whiskey produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork and bottled at 40% ABV.

The blend was created in the 1950s for the American market, where it made its name as a mixing whiskey and, above all, as the bottle poured into Irish coffee. It was withdrawn from the United States in the late 1980s and has been largely an Irish proposition ever since — better known at home than abroad, and quietly kept going by the people who grew up with it.

There is no pretence about it. Light, smooth and gently sweet, it is an everyday blend built for mixing and for long drinks rather than for slow contemplation. Serve it with ginger ale and ice, stir it into coffee with a little brown sugar and cream, or keep it as the bottle you reach for when the rare stuff is being saved for something.
