Jameson Single Pot Still launches

Jameson Single Pot Still is described as a ‘throwback to an era when Irish whiskey reigned supreme’. During the 19th century, the Jameson Bow Street Distillery in Dublin was known globally for its single pot still whiskey. However, by the 20th century, the distillery moved to a blended whiskey to attract new drinkers.

The 46% ABV expression was created by master distiller Kevin O’Gorman using a mashbill of malted and unmalted barley before being triple distilled. The liquid is then matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks alongside three virgin oak cask types: American, European and Irish. The use of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks provide the whiskey with notes of dried fruits, vanilla and fudge, while the virgin oak casks result in hints of toasted oak and woodland spices.

“It has been an honour and a joy to work on rebuilding a traditional Jameson expression with an innovative twist and bringing a new member into the Jameson family,” said O’Gorman.

“While crafting this whiskey, the team at Midleton Distillery worked hard to find the exact balance and flavour profile for our finished product.

“We wanted to showcase the quintessential notes of the single pot still style by blending the familiar ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks before bringing a new dimension with the introduction of the virgin oak casks.”
